About the Photographer

Barbara Stewart-Hager has been taking photographs since she was nine years old. She was inspired by a female relative who was a professional photographer during a time when women were rare in the profession.
She
specializes in landscape and close-up flower photography, both in color and
black-and-white. Barbara works both in film and digital media, and she
makes her own archival prints. Her New Mexico photographs are currently
available for purchase at
Local Color Gallery
in Chama, NM, as well as through this web site.
The New Mexico Churches series of photographs is now
available at Rio Lindo Furnishings, 2439 Wyoming
Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque.
Barbara is also an
artist in sound. She is a violinist, pianist and teacher.
She feels
that her musical training has enhanced her photographic skills, and that the
reverse is also true. Her passion is to record beauty - visually and
aurally - and passing the beauty to others gives her great joy.
Barbara and her family - husband Gordon and dogs Dexter and Lily Rose - moved to southwestern Colorado in the fall of 2007. She is thrilled with all the new and lovely places and things to photograph in the four corners region. As a happy result of that move, Barbara's flower (and other) photography will now be available for viewing and purchase at Artisans of Mancos Gallery, Mancos, CO. In addition, her note cards, featuring scenic views as well as flowers, are available for purchase at Picaya, Cortez, CO.
